The knock on the door came very suddenly, startling Silas out of his short nap. He knew they'd be coming to give him something, but not this soon. As he rose from he couch and threw on his clothes, he felt the knocks get more and more impatient. Every knock was louder and faster than the last.
Finally, with all of his clothes on, he opened the door leading to the outside. As the door slammed open, the Professor's aide waiting outside finally breathed a sigh of relief. The box he had been holding was beginning to make his arms hurt, as he had been their for about 30 minutes without any arm support. He looked at Silas as a smile formed on his face.
"Hello, Silas. It's good to see you've finally come to the door. Here's your package." He handed over the box which, admittedly, was quite heavy. The aide waved his hand and only offered a sly, "Good luck!"
As the door closed, he set the box on the table and opened it to review its contents. He saw what had been included with this set.
The first thing he saw was a pack of 5 Pokeballs, standard affair for a new trainer starting their adventure. He would be able to catch even more Pokemon with these little babies.
Next was his Pokedex. It was a device that allowed him to record Pokemon and store their information, which he luckily didn't need to actually catch to do. It was a miracle of a device for someone who liked collecting, like him.
Finally, and most importantly, a lone Pokeball lay in the center of the package. He knew what it was so he didn't hesitate. When he picked up the Pokeball, he could feel a warmth emanate from it. He felt something inside it, and knew what he should open it. He thrust the ball forward and saw the creature encapsulated within it burst forth from it's home.
The creature was small and a light purple hue, and it definitely wasn't a big fighter. Its eyes were closed to a plus sign, and its ears covered small holes on the top of its head. It was actually pretty cute.
After, a few seconds, the Pokemon finally registered its new surrounding. It whimpered a little, then ran under the coffee table it was standing beside. Silas then bent down and tried to calm it down.
"Hey little guy, I'm Silas. What's wrong little fella?"
The Pokemon looked at him, then began to take in a lot of air. Then it suddenly let out a loud, harsh scream that made his ears hurt beyond belief. How could something this little let out this much noise.
As the cries continued, the Pokemon showed no signs of stopping. Silas then noticed where the air was entering in its body. The holes below its ears!
As he inched closer to the creature, it began to scream louder and louder than before. He finally reached it and lightly grabbed its ears, pulling them down over the small holes on its head. It finally was quiet.
The Pokemon laid in his arms. Apparently, all the screaming had tired it out, maybe even exhausted itself.
As it fell asleep, Silas noticed the note that fell to the floor.
"Be gentle with this Pokemon, it's quite loud."
